Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza said that the decision to retain eight specialist batsmen in their line-up against Scotland was in anticipation of a top-order collapse. They had considered replacing Mominul Haque with left-arm spinner Arafat Sunny, but seeing some grass on the Saxton Oval pitch on the eve of the game swayed them towards Nasir Hossain.”There was a point in the match when we were in a difficult position,” Mortaza said. “It was a risk to play without the extra spinner. We went ahead with an extra batsman. We have never played at this ground before so we got a bit confused seeing some grass on the pitch. Opening the bowling with Mashrafe, Shakib Al Hasan’s tossed up deliveries were obediently defended by the Scotland openers. It gave more room to the notion that spin bowling helps Bangladesh dominate against non-Test playing batting line-ups.Since gaining the Test status in 2000, Abdur Razzak has been their most successful bowler against such opponents, and a similar mode of attack in the form of Arafat Sunny (who also bowls flattish left-arm spin) to complement Shakib could have slowed down the Scotland charge.Further evidence was the measure of control shown by Sabbir Rahman and Nasir Hossain, both more part-time than they were at the start of their domestic careers. Mahmudullah attempted Shakib’s method but was thwarted by Matt Machan, the only Scotland batsman who was willing to use his feet to the spinners. But spin remained king of this attack, with Nasir bowling four and Shakib and Sabbir two each in the last 10 overs.Both pace and spin gave Bangladesh four wickets each but the former gave away 163 runs at 7.1 per over while the latter conceded at 5.7 for 27 overs. Taskin’s late wickets helped improve his bowling figures but like Rubel and Mashrafe, he bowled far too many deliveries down the leg-side or short despite seeing how comfortably it was tackled by Kyle Coetzer and co.What would worry Mashrafe furthermore is the number of times Bangladesh have given away 300-plus totals – this was the second time in a row in this World Cup. They conceded such totals only twice each in the last two years, but now they have given away 300-plus in two of their first three bowling innings in 2015. Scotland also became the first non-Test playing nation to score 300-plus runs against Bangladesh (Kenya did so in 1997 when both sides were Associates).Mashrafe said that the bowling attack is good enough to keep sides under 300, and they will discuss the matter further ahead of their crucial game against England in Adelaide.”The bowlers should have restricted them to 280 runs,” Mashrafe said. “But I am happy to see Tamim, Riyad, Mushfiqur, Shakib and Sabbir score runs, and they will take this confidence to the England match. I will especially thank the batsmen for chasing down such a big total with such calmness.”We have to function with this bowling attack. I believe we have the ability to do much better than the last two performances. The wicket was really good. I feel it is possible to restrict teams to 280, rather than 318, even on these wickets. We cannot afford such bowling everyday so we will discuss among ourselves, how to bowl according to the wicket. Hopefully, our bowlers will come back.”

وأوضح: “من الأفضل الاستمتاع بكل لحظة اليوم ومحاولة الشعور بالارتياح مع جماهيرنا، حاول أن تكون سعيدًا، وبالطبع إذا كنت تفوز أكثر من الخسارة فسوف تكون أكثر سعادة”.

واستأنف: “لكننا في دوري المؤتمرات وتأهلنا للدور التالي، كما إننا سنلعب في كأس الاتحاد الإنجليزي الشهر المقبل ونريد أن نكون ثابتين في الدوري الإنجليزي، في مايو، هذا هو الوقت الذي يمكننا فيه التحدث عن مكاننا”.

واستكمل: “نحن نركز على كل مباراة ولا يمكننا التفكير في كيفية إنهاء الموسم، لا يمكننا معرفة ذلك الآن والأمر يعتمد على كيفية مواجهة كل مباراة، في 38 مباراة، كل مباراة تمثل فرصة للحصول على ثلاث نقاط، نفس النقاط أمام بورنموث كما هو الحال مع مانشستر سيتي”.

His batting was how we know Watto can bat. He’s got amazing power and I think he played a big part in helping set the game up, that partnership with Maxy and him. Then he held his nerve under pressure with the ball as well. That was a real test for us out there, as games continue to move forward we’re going to be under pressure and I felt the way all the bowlers held their nerve today was exceptional.”Consultation between a captain and the selectors has long been a point of discussion in Australian cricket. Ricky Ponting had no formal selection role but seldom got a team he did not prefer, but since he stepped down from the panel Clarke has been at odds with Lehmann, Waugh, Trevor Hohns and the chairman Rod Marsh more than once. We had a completely different team in Perth and we made a world record score. So whatever 11 players the selectors decide to pick for the conditions and against the opposition, everyone will be ready to play.”The summer has been a vexing one for Clarke, and having made his first substantial score since suffering the hamstring injury that required surgery after the first Test against India in early December, he also spoke at some length about his dealings with the media. It was in response to a broader question about how he managed to handle the stress of this season.”I don’t feel stress from what people write or say,” he said. “It might have taken me a few years but I think I’ve slowly learned to ignore a lot of it and laugh at a lot of it, and I think that’s probably the only reason I’m still playing this game at the highest level. When I was a lot younger I probably took a lot more to heart. Allan Donald has stepped down as South Africa’s bowling coach in the first of what is expected to be a series of changes post the 2015 World Cup. Donald held the role for four years since 2011 and served under Gary Kirsten and Russell Domingo while also working at IPL teams Pune Warriors and Royal Challengers Bangalore.Donald’s decision coincided with the expiration of his contract, which along with the rest of the South African support staff and selection panel, ran its course at the conclusion of the World Cup. Taking the team to the semi-finals of the tournament, for Donald, marked the end point of his tenure.”I always wanted to give myself the chance of working up until the World Cup,” Donald told ESPNcricinfo. “I really felt now was a good time to get and get on with it and that’s that. It’s been four awesome years and I will miss the guys big time.”Donald hailed the attack he worked with as the “best in the world,” and picked out their claiming of the Test mace as a highlight in what he called the “best four years of my life.” During his time with the South African side, Donald preached aggression and encouraged the pack to adopt that mantra.Dale Steyn led the response. South Africa’s pace spearhead continued his dominance at the top of the Test rankings. Both are expected to be retained.Donald’s departure was expected to be the major change following the 2015 World Cup but South Africa are also likely to have a new selection convener in the near future. Narine’s name has been taken off the list of bowlers with suspect actions but he was informed that another transgression would result in him being banned for this IPL season.It is understood Narine was delivering the offbreak with a flex in his elbow, which meant he was going back to the old action that had been reported during the 2014 Champions LeagueTwenty20. The review committee wanted him to be consistent with his remodelled action.”In its decision on 28 April 2015 to ban Mr. Narine from bowling off-spinners in the IPL, the BCCI Suspect Bowling Action Committee noted that the player could request a further Official Assessment by the Committee,” the BCCI said in a release. “This request was received and accordingly the player underwent a third biomechanical analysis of his action at the ICC and BCCI accredited Sri Ramachandra Arthroscopy and Sports Sciences Centre (SRASSC) in Chennai – this time for his remodelled action (i.e. the one that had been cleared by the Committee immediately before the IPL season).This analysis has re-confirmed the conclusion of the first Official Assessment by the Committee – namely that the remodelled action for the off-spinner does not contravene Law 24.2 (as read with Law 24.3).”The Committee, however, has drawn Mr. Narine’s attention to paragraph 4.9 of the IPL Suspected Illegal Bowling Action Policy. Any further report for a suspected illegal bowling action during the course of this season will automatically mean that Mr. Narine is banned from bowling for the rest of the season.”After the match between Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 22, the on-field officials reported a number of Narine’s deliveries as suspect. Narine underwent fresh tests immediately and was cleared to bowl all his deliveries expect the offbreak, which was deemed illegal. On April 29, Narine underwent a retest on his offbreak, which was banned by the BCCI, and was cleared on the evening of May 6.

وأكد: “دائمًا ما تكون مباراتنا هنا ساخنة، ولا يمكننا أن ننسى العام الماضي (7-0)، لكن الأولاد فعلوا كل ما في وسعهم، لدينا الكثير من اللاعبين الشباب وقد أدوا بشكل جيد، أنا فخور بقيادتهم، ومن المؤسف أننا لم نتمكن من الفوز”.

وفيما يتعلق بحصوله على شارة القيادة بعد ارتباطه بإمكانية الرحيل في الصيف، أجاب: “إنه أكبر شرف في مسيرتي أن أقود هذا النادي، أنا ممتن لكوني في هذا المركز”.

واستمر: “هناك دائمًا أشياء يمكن أن تحدث وتكهنات في عالم كرة القدم، لكن لدي عقل في حالة صفاء، أبذل قصارى جهدي دائمًا من أجل النادي على أرض الملعب وبدون أعذار”.

واختتم: “لا يهمني ما يعتقده أو يقوله أي شخص آخر عني، أريد فقط أن ألعب بشكل جيد لهذا النادي، هذا أمر نهائي”.
