Azharullah and Trent Copeland each took three wickets as Northamptonshire roared to victory over Glamorgan by an innings and 25 runs inside three days.Glamorgan collapsed in the afternoon session as they were bowled out for a meagre 187, with Australia paceman Copeland taking 3 for 41 and Pakistani seamer Azharullah 3 for 42.This was the promotion-chasing hosts’ first win in six matches in this competition, while it is the second time in three seasons that Glamorgan have been thrashed by an innings at Wantage Road.The visitors began their second innings at the start of the day, needing 212 just to make Northants bat again. It was now becoming a sorry procession for Glamorgan as their captain and wicketkeeper Mark Wallace was also taken by Murphy, this time off the bowling of Crook.John Glover soon followed him back to the pavilion after making only a single and became the third wicket to fall in 12 balls when he edged Azharullah to Murphy. The visitors slid ever closer to defeat when Andrew Salter fell to Murphy’s ninth catch of the match to give Andrew Hall his first wicket.Dean Cosker then smashed Copeland to Crook at fine leg to leave Northants on the brink of victory and maximum points. Graham Wagg did give the hosts some resistance but he was to be left stranded on 34 as the result was wrapped up two overs before tea was due when Michael Reed was taken at first slip by Copeland off Hall.

O jogo

Já garantido na próxima fase e jogando em casa, o Botafogo-PB teve tranquilidade para jogar desde o apito inicial.

Nos 20 minutos iniciais, Israel e Clayton levaram perigo à área adversária, em tentativas que quase resultaram em gol.

O que estava próximo de acontecer, acabou se concretizando aos 28 minutos de partida. Após roubar a bola de Odair, Marcos Vinícius tocou para Marcos Aurélio que chutou no canto do goleiro Rodrigo Carvalho e fazer 1 a 0 Botafogo-PB no placar.

Na reta final da primeira etapa, nada diferente. O time da casa continuava levando perigo diante de um Sampaio Corrêa inofensivo.

O Botafogo-PB teve ainda boas chacnes de ampliar o placar, com Nando na cara do gol, que teve lance anulado por impedimento, e Clayton, que chutou de primeira após escanteio e parou na defesa do goleiro do Sampaio.

Na volta do intervalo, a equipe mandante do jogo voltou em ritmo mais lento, o que abriu chance para chegada do Sampaio Corrêa. Bem posicionado, Dedé chutou com perigo a direita do goleiro Saulo.

Apesar da oportunidade, o visitante não conseguiu mais levar perigo. Da mesma maneira, o Botafogo-PB foi menos ofensivo na etapa final, tornando o jogo mais lento nos minutos complementares.

Nos minutos finais, duas boas chances de Clayton levaram perigo, mas em ambas o meia acabou batendo mal e perdendo o gol. Nada que abalasse o resultado construído na primeira etapa, que garantiu a vitória do Botafogo-PB, que manteve a vantagem na ponta do grupo B

South Zone, however, were awarded the match on the basis of a first-innings lead and will now meet Central Zone in the second semi-final in Chennai, starting October 10.Having been batted out of the game over the first two days, and struggling at an overnight score of 155 for 6, West Zone looked in imminent danger of collapsing for a small total, thus giving South Zone the possibility of an outright win. However, Bawne and Dhurv dug in and added 98 runs in nearly 40.3 overs. Bawne brought up his seventh first-class hundred and Dhurv scored his 13th first-class fifty, before he was caught by Rohan Prem off left-arm spinner Aushik Srinivas.His dismissal led to a flurry of wickets, as West Zone lost the remaining batsmen for just 41 runs. Offspinner Malolan Rangarajan completed his maiden five-wicket haul in first-class cricket, as West Zone were out for 287, in response to South Zone’s mammoth first-innings total of 600. Bawne remained unbeaten on 115 off 337 balls and his innings included seven fours and a six. Dhurv’s fifty, meanwhile, came off 107 balls and included six fours and a six.With a 313-run lead and first-innings points in the bag, South Zone decided to bat again. They declared after being 44 for 1 before the match was drawn.As a result of the first-innings win, South Zone will square off against Central Zone in the second semi-final on October 10.

O caminho da Copa do Brasil está traçado. Após a definição da maioria das equipes que disputarão a quarta fase da competição, a Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF) divulgou, nesta sexta-feira, as datas e horários do próximo estágio da competição. Grande parte dos jogos de ida já vai ocorrer na próxima quarta-feira, dia 17.

A exceção à essa regra será a partida entre Juventude contra Bragantino-PA ou Vila Nova. Por conta da questão jurídica e do atraso envolvendo Ponte Preta e Aparecidense, que foi eliminada pela equipe do Pará, os dois times vão jogar os confrontos válidos pela terceira fase ainda. Quando tudo se resolver, as partidas pela quarta fase serão realizados nos dias 24 de abril – ida – e 1º de maio – volta.

Além disso, a CBF também divulgou as datas para as oitavas de final, fase em que os clubes que disputam a Libertadores desse ano entram na competição. Nesse estágio, os jogos de ida começarão no dia 15 de maio e as partidas da volta serão realizadas em 22 ou 29 do mesmo mês.

Na fase seguinte, a CBF divulgou apenas a data dos jogos de ida, previstos para o dia 19 de julho, após a realização da Copa América – que vai promover uma pausa no calendário do futebol brasileiro.

Mushfiqur Rahim was relieved to see his team recover to a safe position in the second Test, which helped them draw the game and the series. Bangladesh’s consistency in the second Test, after doing well in the first game of the two-match series, was also a source of respite as the side have been known to be complacent after a good game.After drawing the Chittagong Test, the home side were in trouble in Mirpur when they were first bowled out for 282 and later conceded a 155-run deficit.Mominul Haque’s second century in successive Tests, and Tamim Iqbal’s 70 in the second innings, ensured they went into the final day with a 114-run lead and seven wickets in hand. Rain washed away the fifth day, but the fourth-day comeback pleased Mushfiqur.”After playing the first Test, often we could not take that into the second game,” Mushfiqur said. “Though our batting didn’t click in the first innings, we proved through the second innings that our team is maturing. The same player [Mominul Haque] proved how determined and responsible he can be and that is a very good sign. I had always said that there are lots of performers in our team so I hope they will perform in the same manner.”Mushfiqur pointed out how the team has again had to play a Test series after a gap of six months. They have gone through several such breaks over the last four years, and it has deeply affected the team. He has asked for more Tests, as he has done before, so the team can improve quicker.”If you take the whole series into account, I think we wanted to play well in the beginning and play consistently well thereafter,” Mushfiqur said. “It was not easy because we were playing Test cricket after five, six months and we could not avail the opportunity to play the longer version, so it was definitely a challenge. The way my players performed, and took up the opportunity to play under pressure, is a good sign.”I ask whoever is in charge to give us the opportunity to play more Tests. Whether we fare good or bad is another question. If we cannot play Test cricket, how can a player like Mominul score a hundred or Gazi take six wickets? In the future, hopefully, we will play more Test matches so that we can show that Bangladesh is improving day by day.”Mushfiqur was disappointed at the way the batsmen gifted their wickets away in the first innings. “In every series all of the top six won’t perform, “Mushfiqur said. “There are chances that everybody tries to take but for some it clicks and for others it doesn’t. It was disappointing the way some of our batsmen went down and we need to improve on that.”He also thought Rubel Hossain was unlucky not to get wickets, while the spinners had a hard time bowling on the flat track in Chittagong, and gripping the ball on a wet Mirpur outfield. Anamul Haque’s batting and the team’s fielding too bothered him at times, but largely, he was happy that the team had done well and the players had also put their hands up and performed.
