Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has been handed a major boost in his hopes of signing Brest left-back Romain Perraud this summer.

What’s the story?

According to previous reports from The Athletic’s Phil Hay, the Whites were eyeing a summer transfer move for the 23-year-old, before The Mirror’s David Anderson poured cold water on that suggestion by claiming recently that Bielsa’s side had actually moved on from their chase of Perraud, and that the Yorkshire club were “no longer trying to sign” him.

That was then followed up by reports from Football Insider that Leeds had actually pulled out of negotiations with the Ligue 1 club over the high price involved.

However, according to French publication L’Equipe (via Get French Football News), the Whites are actually in talks with Brest over a deal for Perraud, although they are set to face significant competition from the likes of Newcastle and Southampton.

Fans will be buzzing

What an incredible turn of events this is, following Hay’s initial suggestion that Perraud was a summer transfer target for Leeds, to the reports that Bielsa’s side had pulled out of a potential deal, and now the fresh twist that they’re actually still in touch with Brest.

Given just how impressive the 23-year-old was last season in Ligue 1, it’s no surprise that the Whites appear to have come back to the negotiating table to try and strike a deal.

Writing a profile piece for The Athletic, Hay said: “Perraud, 23, played for France up to under-20s level and his performance data shows characteristics which would meet Bielsa requirements: a creative edge and a high number of dribbles and shots for a player at his position, combined with a very active role in pressing defensively.”

As per WhoScored, Perraud outshone Gjanni Alioski in numerous key categories both offensively and defensively last season, averaging more interceptions, key passes, shots, dribbles and crosses, while also being dribbled past only half as often as the Leeds full-back.

The Lowdown: Patricio future uncertain

There have been various reports to suggest that the future of Rui Patricio is very much uncertain at the Midlands club.

The Portugal international is now 33 years of age, and so time is running out for the Molineux faithful to try and cash in on him while he still has some value.

Of course, if they were to let Patricio go, then they would need to find a suitable replacement, and that could well be in the form of Sa.

The Latest: Sa number one target

As per Sportime journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos, Sa is the number one target for the Wanderers in the window, and they will make an offer of between €8-10m (£6.9-8.6m) for his services.

However, the Olympiacos ace has a release clause of €15m (£12.9m), and so the Greek team may wish for WWFC to pay this if they are to land his signature.

The Verdict: Sa perfect Patricio replacement

If Patricio were to leave, then Sa would no doubt be his perfect replacement at Wolves.

Both Portuguese, the latter would have learned from Patricio playing for the national side together, and at 28, he is at a much better age in his footballing career.

Sa kept a very impressive 19 clean sheets in 44 games in total over all competitions in the 2020/21 season, including away at Arsenal in the UEFA Europa League, and conceded a mere 37 goals in the process (Transfermarkt).

Even star batsman, skipper Jayasuriya displayed a lack of confidence. They were only able to accumulate 169 runs for the loss of 8 wickets and lost the match by 79 runs.Despite a great victory the Black Caps could not beat Sri Lanka in run-rate and Friday, April 20 will be the big day for the final between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, an event for all cricket lovers to enjoy.The 6th and last league match did serve as the promised challenge for New Zealand, trailing behind the other two participants and it commenced with the Black Caps batting first but losing a wicket to the very first ball.Opener Chris Nevin was caught behind off Chaminda Vaas without a run on the board. Sinclair and Bell, however, batted with determination in a solid partnership. In full command, they hoisted the 100 and their individual 50s in 22 overs. Crystal Palace have made enquiries to Arsenal over a potential deal for Ainsley Maitland-Niles, according to Arsenal’s chief Football London reporter Chris Wheatley.

And, as to be expected, a number of Eagles fans have been sharing their thoughts on the transfer update on social media.

Palace are still on the hunt for Roy Hodgson’s long-term successor after a deal for former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo fell through on Tuesday evening.

So, with no first-team boss in place, you’d expect sporting director Dougie Freedman would be at the heart of Palace’s enquiry for Maitland-Niles ahead of the 2021/22 season.

The 23-year-old, who is capable of playing all over the park, spent the second half of the 2020/21 campaign on loan at West Brom. He made 15 appearances for the Baggies but couldn’t prevent relegation back to the Championship.

Maitland-Niles, who is valued at £14.4m by Transfermarkt, still has two years left on his Emirates deal, worth £35,000-a-week.

قال سامي قمصان، المدرب العام للفريق الأول لكرة القدم بالنادي الأهلي، إن الفريق حقق المطلوب أمام الهلال بالتأهل إلى ربع نهائي دوري أبطال إفريقيا، بعدما حقق الفوز بهدف دون رد، في المباراة التي جمعت الفريقين مساء الأحد في الجولة الأخيرة من دور المجموعات. 

وأشار قمصان في تصريحات، للموقع الرسمي بالنادي الأهلي، إلى أن الفريق كان هدفه الأساسي هو تحقيق الفوز أمام الهلال، على الرغم من أن التعادل كان يكفي لتأهل الفريق إلى الأدوار القادمة في البطولة، لكن كان هناك إصرار على تحقيق الفوز بعد فقدان عدة نقاط خلال الجولات الماضية في البطولة، مؤكدًا أن الأهلي حسم التأهل في هذه المرحلة بنجاح.

ذكرت تقارير صحفية إنجليزية أن تراجع مستوى محمد صلاح مع ليفربول في الوقت الحالي قد يؤثر على مفاوضاته مع إدارة النادي فيما يتعلق بتجديد عقده.

ومن المعروف أن العقد الحالي للنجم المصري صاحب الـ29 عامًا مع ليفربول سينتهي في صيف 2023.

وفشلت إدارة ليفربول في التوصل إلى اتفاق مع محمد صلاح، على مدار أشهر طويلة، بشأن العقد الجديد، بسبب اختلافهما حول الراتب المالي.

وسلطت شبكة “ليفربول إيكو” الإنجليزية الضوء على تراجع مستوى محمد صلاح بقميص ليفربول في الفترة الحالية، فبعد مباراة الأمس ضد بنفيكا، خاض المصري الآن 7 مباريات دون أن يهز الشباك من اللعب المفتوح.

وكان آخر هدف لـ محمد صلاح من ركلة جزاء أمام برايتون في 12 مارس الماضي، في الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

وأشارت إلى أنه بالرغم من رؤية ليفربول يكاد يعاني من دون أهداف محمد صلاح، فإن التداعيات الأوسع تتعلق بالمناقشات المستمرة بين اللاعب ومسؤولي النادي فيما يتعلق بعقده الجديد.

وأفادت إنه مع كل مباراة يتراجع فيها مستواه، يبدو أن الموقف التفاوضي لـ محمد صلاح مع مسؤولي ليفربول، يضعف.

ولسوء الحظ بالنسبة له، هذا مجرد واحد من عدة عوامل ساعدت ليفربول بشكل غير متوقع إلى حد ما في كسب اليد العليا على مدار الشهر الماضي.

وظهرت تقارير لأول مرة في مارس تشير إلى أن صلاح “ليس لديه نية” لقبول العرض الافتتاحي للنادي، ولكن لم يستغرق الأمر وقتًا طويلاً بالنسبة لتغريدة سيئة التوقيت (أو ربما سيئة التفكير) من وكيل اللاعب لبدء تغيير الأشياء.
