Recent reports have suggested that Liverpool are keen to hand Fabinho a new long-term contract with the club, which could be a huge boost for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

According to Fabrizio Romano in The Guardian, the Reds hope to start negotiations with the Brazilian midfielder over a potential new deal, as they consider him one of the “untouchables” at the club after his superb displays since joining from Monaco in 2018.

Fabinho joined the Merseyside club in a £39 million deal from AS Monaco in 2018 and has been a mainstay in Klopp’s side ever since, having made 96 appearances for the Reds, in which he has contributed three goals and seven assists (per Transfermarkt).

The 27-year-old has really stepped up his performances a notch this season, however, as he has filled in superbly at centre-back in the absence of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, so you can see why the club might be keen to reward him with a new contract.

Although his current deal is set to expire in 2023, a new deal would give Liverpool added security and might well ensure that the midfielder spends the rest of his peak playing days with the Anfield outfit.

So far this season, the Brazilian has averaged a solid 6.75 rating across his nine appearances in the Premier League, whilst his performances in the Champions League have earned him a superb 7.17 rating (per WhoScored).

Therefore, it is clear that Fabinho is a hugely important player in this Liverpool side and can clearly be relied upon to do a job as both a defensive midfielder and a centre-back.

There were fears that Liverpool would struggle a lot following their defensive injury crisis but the Brazilian has stepped in to great effect and has helped ensure that the Reds are hot on the heels of Tottenham Hotspur, who currently sit top of the Premier League table.

If Klopp’s side do manage to retain the Premier League title this season, then a lot of praise should go to Fabinho for his performances in defence, and whilst the Reds might be keen to add defensive reinforcements in the upcoming January transfer window, their first priority should arguably be to tie down Fabinho to a new deal with the club.

A Chapecoense teve certo trabalho para vencer a boa marcação imposta pelo Inter de Lages no início da partida, o que garantiu a primeira finalização para a Chape apenas com 15 minutos, através do lateral-esquerdo Dener. Com o passar dos minutos, a Chape foi tomando conta do jogo e o gol passou a ser questão de tempo. E ele veio aos 15, após Gimenez fazer jogada pela direita e mandar para a área. Cristian tentou cortar, mas marcou contra. Chape 1 a 0. Cristian voltaria a ser protagonista aos 30, após cortar mal novo cruzamento e deixar Bruno Rangel na boa para ampliar. Chape 2 a 0.

INTER DE LAGES DIMINUI, MAS VITÓRIA É DA CHAPE

A Chapecoense voltou melhor para a etapa final, trabalhando bem a bola e levando muito perigo para Neto Volpi. Dener, em cobrança de falta, e Gimenez, em finalização de fora da área, tiveram ótimas oportunidades de ampliar. Mas quem marcou foi o Inter de Lages. Após pênalti de Neto em Isac, Gustavo diminuiu para o Colorado, aos 18 minutos. O time de Lages mostrou dedicação em busca do empate, mas a Chape soube conter o ímpeto rival, não deixou de buscar o terceiro gol e, no fim, celebrou importante vitória.

What’s the word?

According to The Scottish Sun, SPFL giants Celtic are set to launch a bid to sign Baggies youngster Rekeem Harper on loan during the January transfer window.

It’s claimed that the 20-year-old brute was close to making a move to Parkhead in 2019 before signing a new contract under Slaven Bilic at the Hawthorns.

Neil Lennon has previously scouted the player, whilst recruitment Nick Hammond once worked a similar role in the Midlands.

Harper may not be on the cusp of clinching a regular place amongst Sam Allardyce’s starting XI right now, but that opportunity could come with skipper Jake Livermore serving a suspension.

The new Albion boss was left reeling by his challenge on Jack Grealish on Sunday night, so much so that there will be question marks over his own positioning in this struggling squad. Thus, a door could well open.

Bilic has shown that the youth at the club can be trusted – Dara O’Shea is now a prominent senior figure at just 21, whilst Nathan Ferguson’s rise to stardom resulted in a Premier League move to Crystal Palace.

He was undoubtedly a major talent, just like Harper. One that they never replaced in the summer. The same could happen here.

Dubbed a “powerhouse” with “no limits” by Bilic and a starlet that has “got all the tools” by Tony Pulis, it’s clear there is something impressive about him, yet, he’s still not been given a fair crack.

Harper has even been likened to PL great Patrick Vieira, so even if he becomes half the player the Arsenal legend was, then West Brom will have a hell of a player on their hands.

Which is why sporting and technical director Luke Dowling must steer well clear of sanctioning an exit here. It could be yet another disaster if he does.

وتنطلق بطولة كأس العرب خلال الفترة من 30 نوفمبر حتى 18 ديسمبر المقبل، بمشاركة 24 منتخبًا، ومقرر إقامتها في قطر.

منتخب لبنان يتواجد في المجموعة الرابعة في بطولة كأس العرب، بجانب مصر والجزائر والسودان.

أصدر نادي واتفورد بيانًا رسميًا منذ لحظات بشأن توقف مباراتهم اليوم أمام تشيلسي في بطولة الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

ويلتقي الفريقان في الوقت الحالي في إطار منافسات الجولة الرابعة عشر من الدوري الإنجليزي، على ملعب فيكارج رود.

وتوقفت المباراة منذ الدقيقة 13 من عمر الشوط الأول بسبب تعرض أحد المشجعين في المدرجات لأزمة قلبية.

Southampton kicked off 2021 in the ideal style as they produced a superb display to beat champions Liverpool 1-0 at St Mary’s.

An early goal from Danny Ings proved enough to defeat Jurgen Klopp’s side, although a lot of credit has to go to the Saints defence, as they worked tirelessly to keep out seemingly relentless Liverpool attacks in the second half.

Whilst Ings will get a lot of the credit for his goal, and Ibrahima Diallo will claim a lot of plaudits for his performance in midfield, it was perhaps the performance of Kyle Walker-Peters that stood out the most.

As per SofaScore, the former Tottenham Hotspur ace picked up a 7.4 rating for his display, with only Danny Ings, Jack Stephens and Jan Bednarek rated higher of the Southampton players.

The right-back was always likely to be in for a tough game up against former Southampton man Sadio Mane on the left-wing but he was able to shackle the Senegalese international for much of the game, helping to limit the away side to just one shot on target during the 90 minutes.

During the game, the 23-year-old defender would win 11 out of his 16 duels, also making six tackles and seven clearances, which summed up the sort of battling displays he has consistently produced since joining on a permanent deal during the summer.

Despite the hosts struggling to keep hold of the ball in the second period, Walker-Peters was still fairly accurate with his passing, as he lost possession on just 12 occasions, whilst he also registered a solid 78% pass accuracy.

On what was something of a nightmare evening for his counter-part Trent Alexander-Arnold, the Southampton right-back has perhaps given Gareth Southgate something to think about before he names his next England squad.

Hampshire Live certainly seem to agree that Walker-Peters was superb on Monday night, rating him 8/10, although they ranked Diallo a 9/10 for his excellent display.

Perhaps Saints fans have simply been accustomed to Walker-Peters’ superb displays of late, as Hasenhuttl’s side have now kept eight clean sheets in the top-flight this season, which is the joint-most in the division and is testament to the influence the right-back is having in this Southampton side.

And, in other news, Hasenhuttl can sign his Redmond successor in 24 y/o “big talent”; he won’t cost Semmens a penny…

Enquanto alguns jogadores do Santos representaram o clube no desfile da escola de samba Grande Rio, no último domingo, o zagueiro David Braz trocou o Carnaval pelo treino. Em um vídeo em seu Instagram, o defensor aparece treinando na fase final de sua recuperação.

O camisa 14 do Peixe teve uma lesão muscular de grau 2 na coxa esquerda na final da Copa do Brasil, no último dia 2 de dezembro e está afastado dos gramados desde então.

Ao que tudo indica o técnico Ricardo Gomes vai manter a formação com três volantes para enfrentar a Cabofriense, neste domingo, às 17h, em São Januário.
No treino desta quinta-feira, o treinador alvinegro comando um coletivo e, diferentemente, do restante da semana não fez nenhuma experiência que alterasse o estilo de jogo da equipe. Airton, Bruno Silva e Lindoso foram mantidos entre os titulares. Damián Lizio treinou entre os reservas.

Depois de um trabalho físico no gramado, os jogadores participaram de um coletivo no gramado. Ricardo Gomes escalou a equipe titular e gradativamente foi colocando os setores do time de reservas para oferecer resistência aos titulares. Os atacante Neilton e Salgueiro treinaram entre os reservas, mas não protagonizaram nenhuma grande jogada. A dupla deve ser relacionada para a partida de domingo.

Ricardo Gomes também trabalhou finalizações e cruzamentos com seus defensores. Em cima da marca de pênalti, o técnico comandava o trabalho e fazia diversas pausas para orientar seus jogadores.
