Wolverhampton Wanderers will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League later this evening when they host Crystal Palace at Molineux.

Nuno Santo’s side were on the cusp of three successive 1-0 victories before Jacob Murphy’s late free-kick cancelled out a Raul Jimenez strike, though it’s been a positive reaction to their 4-0 drubbing by West Ham United.

The Midlands outfit should have a clean bill of health barring long-term absentee Jonny Castro, so the Portuguese has plenty of selection headaches to overcome.

So, here’s the lineup we are predicting here tonight…

Nuno could make three changes with Steve Bruce’s Magpies in town.

Summer arrival Marcal is in line to return to the starting XI for the first time since picking up an injury early in the Man City defeat. After two substitute appearances, he should be fit to go from the off, though it means Max Kilman is axed at his expense with Romain Saiss dropping into the back three once more.

He partners skipper Conor Coady and the colossal Willy Boly in front of Rui Patricio between the sticks.

There could also be a return for industrious playmaker Joao Moutinho, who was surprisingly dropped on Sunday despite a starring role in the win over Leeds United.

He’ll partner Leander Dendoncker due to the added defensive stability he offers, meaning there’s no place for £45m-rated Ruben Neves in a midfield two.

We’ve suggested why Adama Traore should be unleashed against the Eagles’ inexperienced full-back Tyrick Mitchell here, it would be a surprise to not see the newly-capped Spaniard start given his influence.

The tricky £36m-rated winger is preferred to Daniel Podence with Pedro Neto taking up a place on the left flank.

Raul Jimenez, of course, leads the line upfront.

It means the likes of Fabio Silva, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Ki-Jana Hoever are all named on the bench.

Leeds have just one week of international duty remaining until they prepare to take on Arsenal in their next Premier League fixture. It will be viewed as a must-win game by the Whites, who have slipped all the way down into worrying territory in the bottom half of the table.

Stuart Dallas suffered an arm injury in his recent performance for Northern Ireland. Whilst the club haven’t delivered an update on this, it looked a painful one at the time for the left-back. Should he be ruled out of the upcoming Arsenal match, Marcelo Bielsa may be forced to rely on young Leif Davis to replace him.

The 20-year-old defender, who Bielsa said in 2019 “gives everything”, has made just one appearance for Leeds this season. Davis made a 13-minute cameo against Manchester City to see out their shock 1-1 draw, which is already an improvement on the 13 minutes he played in total across three substitute appearances last campaign (via Transfermarkt).

Not only will the youngster have some big boots to fill, but he will be up against a major talent in the Arsenal ranks. Nicolas Pepe signed for the Gunners for a mammoth £72million and despite falling out of favour under Mikel Arteta, he could get a chance to start against Leeds.

Arsenal will likely see this as a match they can win easily and may fall into the treat of fielding a weakened team in order to rest up key players. This is where Leeds will have the chance to drop a shock masterclass on them, but every part of the team must be alert.

Bielsa will already be thinking about this. Earlier this year, he waxed lyrical about Pepe and branded him a “huge talent” whilst justifying his hefty price tag. The Argentinian will be aware of his skill on the ball and will know that he must try to silence his performance or risk some dangerous balls into the box.

If Davis is the man to replace Dallas, Bielsa must work hard with him to ensure that he is ready to match the 25-year-old speedster. A strong performance could may well put him in contention to bag more minutes this season.

In other news, New Bryce Hosannah contract will give Leeds much-needed depth…

No final da primeira etapa, Laerte esteve no lugar certo, novamente, para aumentar o placar. A jogada foi parecida com a do primeiro gol, somente invertendo o lado. Artur partiu pela esquerda e cruzou rasteiro para o camisa 9 fazer o segundo tento do Palmeiras.

وحصل جيمي باتشيكو على حكم من الفيفا بوجوب حصوله على قيمة عقده بالكامل مع نادي الزمالك، رافضًا تخفيض مطالبه المادية والحصول على جزء من مستحقاته أو التوصل لاتفاق مع القلعة البيضاء.

وعلق شريف فاروق عبر برنامج “بوكس تو بوكس” على مستجدات القضية بين الطرفين: “ما حدث هو مطالبة باتشيكو بعقده كاملًا وأصدر الفيفا حكمًا بذلك، ومن الطبيعي أن يتم دفع الأموال”.

وواصل وكيل أعمال باتشيكو تصريحاته: “الزمالك استأنف على القرار، وهذا ما يحدث في 99% من مثل هذه الحالات، ولكننا نمتلك حكمًا حاليًا لصالح المدرب البرتغالي”.

وأكد شريف فاروق تمسك باتشيكو براتبه بالكامل: “باتشيكو طلب عقده كاملًا وقيمته مليون و700 ألف دولار، وينتظر تنفيذ الحُكم والحصول على أمواله من الزمالك، ولا توجد نية لديه للتنازل”.

واختتم وكيل باتشيكو: “لم يحدث أي شيء جديد، وهناك استئناف من الزمالك في الاتحاد الدولي، وباتشيكو مازال مصرًا على الحصول على عقده كاملًا”.

O Sport já começou a tomar as primeiras medidas para redimensionar o campo da Ilha do Retiro. Conforme a nova ordem da CBF, todos o campos da Série A e B do Brasileiro deverão ter a mesma medida, seguindo o padrão FIFA (105 metros de comprimento por 68 metros de largura). O campo do Leão tinha 110 metros de comprimento por 75 metros de largura e já foi ‘encurtado’. Desta forma, no amistoso do dia 24 contra o Argentinos Juniors, o gramado do estádio já terá as novas marcações.

Apesar da exigência da CBF sobre o tamanho dos campos ter o prazo até o mês de maio, a diretoria do Leão optou por redimensionar o campo já nesta pré-temporada a fim de acostumar desde já seus jogadores.

– O campo já está com as novas medidas. Aproveitamos os meses de dezembro e janeiro para a manutenção do gramado e aproveitamos para já realizar a mudança. It has been a contrasting 18 months for Tottenham Hotspur winger Lucas Moura.

His 96th-minute, and third, goal against Ajax at the Johann Cruyff Arena sent the north London outfit into the Champions League final for the first time in their history.

But things have not gone to plan for the Brazilian since, even despite a fresh contract extension in the summer.

Moura has signed until at least 2024, though chairman Daniel Levy ought to consider cashing in on him in the near future.

On Thursday night during Spurs’ 3-3 thriller against LASK Linz in the Europa League, he was found wanting again as he rated out as one of their worst performers. It was so poor that Mourinho hooked him well before the end of the match.

Indeed, the 27-year-old made fewer passes than stand-in goalkeeper Joe Hart, on top of winning just 36% of his duels – it’s not as if the Austrian Bundesliga outfit are any true match for a team like Spurs, so it was a shocking night for Moura.

And that’s been an all too familiar story in the Premier League since last year.

He failed to score in the top-flight after the 22nd of December, assisting just three goals in 20 appearances, while this term, Moura has bagged just one goal in nine outings, per Transfermarkt.

To reiterate, in nearly one whole year – or 29 appearances – the €40m-rated (£36m) ace has scored just once.

Moura has, however, delivered in the Europa League with four goals and two assists, but these are all against sides that are barely a match for a top-flight English team.

His teammate Eric Dier recently claimed Moura was a “nightmare” and that there was “no one worse” to play against in training whilst James Dickens of the Last Word on Spurs podcast (via This Is Futbol) believes the wind man is “generally poor.”

Considering he’s earning a whopping £110k-per-week in N17, he must be doing better in Spurs’ bread and butter. In fact, he’s unlikely to break into the starting XI with them sat top of the table with the likes of Heung-min Son, Gareth Bale and Steven Bergwijn breathing down his neck.

The former PSG man is even earning more than Dier (£85k-p/w), Moussa Sissoko (£90k-p/w) and skipper Hugo Lloris (£100k-p/w).

That is simply robbing Levy blind right now, so it may be wise to cash in whilst they still can.

Após despertar interesse do Botafogo e até outros clubes não citados abertamente, o gaúcho de 24 anos passou as férias no interior do Rio Grande do Sul, aguardando o desfecho. Enquanto isso, manteve a forma física com exercícios numa academia perto de casa.

– Não era uma boa situação, porque fiquei bastante ansioso esse tempo todo. Tive um ano muito produtivo em 2015, realizei talvez minha melhor temporada em relação a jogos, atuações, participações em gols, surgiram as propostas, mas a definição demorou. Chegamos a um acordo amigavelmente com o Coritiba e agora a Chapecoense tem partes do meu passe também. Estou muito feliz em assinar por mais três temporadas com a equipe. Me adaptei bem à cidade, minha família igualmente, apesar da demora, deu tudo certo. Todos os times já começaram a pré-temporada e agora quero correr para logo estar pronto com meus companheiros outra vez, realizar os exames e trabalhar forte. Ao término do Campeonato Brasileiro, o atleta passou por uma cirurgia no punho esquerdo, fraturado ainda no Estadual. Como demandava tempo para recuperação, Dener preferiu jogar com uma proteção durante a temporada para não perder o ritmo, nem a posição e só operar no final da competição.

– Já estou totalmente recuperado. Foi bem rápido todo o processo e fiz a fisioterapia. Muitas vezes atuava com dores fortes, mas isso ficou para trás. Graças a Deus pude ter um 2015 produtivo, tivemos grandes jogos na Chapecoense, mostrando a força do time em casa e eu não queria parar, né? Agora é conseguirmos repetir e até melhorar ainda mais as atuações, para brigarmos pelo título catarinense, nosso objetivo nesta temporada – finalizou.

This has been an enormous week for Sunderland and Stewart Donald.

After sacking Phil Parkinson from his job as manager, they hired former Bristol City boss Lee Johnson.

That came just a day after the Black Cats appointed Kristjaan Speakman as their new sporting director and together with Johnson, they have enormous work to do in order to secure promotion.

Of course, the club is on the verge of changing ownership too. Donald has agreed a deal with Juan Sartori and Kyril Louis-Dreyfus but that hasn’t entirely been tied up.

With a huge change, you’d be forgiven for thinking that supporters might be a little more positive now. However, if you thought that, you couldn’t be more wrong.

Sunderland are now five games without a win in League One and Johnson’s first game in charge on Saturday was a drab affair, one they lost to Wigan 1-0.

Johnson hasn’t even had a training session with his new team yet so things can only improve but he won’t have been best pleased with the showing from his players.

In particular, the performance of Chris Maguire should have left him seething.

The forward was Sunderland’s top scorer last season but in 2020/21, has been a shadow of his former self. Maguire has now failed to find the back of the net in seven matches and simply has to be dropped, especially with Aiden McGeady now back in the frame too.

Against Wigan he lacked penetration and urgency, losing possession of the ball 19 times. Furthermore, he completed just one accurate cross of eight attempted and performed only one dribble.

On top of that, Maguire had just one shot in the entire game, one that was off target. It’s unsurprising that Sunderland failed to score with him on the pitch.

Having scored three times in 14 outings this season, his quality has been lacking and Johnson will now be seeking for answers.

If he can get Maguire firing, it will be a great start to Johnson’s reign. The early signs aren’t good, though.
