Stumps Bangladesh gained another share of an unwanted record on Thursday when six players were out for ducks in their paltry first innings of 103 on the first day of the first Test against West Indies. Of the seven instances in which there have been six ducks in a Test innings, Bangladesh now are responsible for three, including in the first innings of their previous Test against Sri Lanka last month.Bangladesh owed almost half their first innings total to captain Shakib Al Hasan, who made 51. Tamim and Litton provided some brief resistance before Tamim was out with the total 41 for 4, having batted for just over an hour.Shakib reached his half century, with little support, from 64 balls with six fours and a six. He was out with the total 103, caught in the deep by Roach off Joseph’s bowling. The innings ended shortly after lunch.Braithwaite and John Campbell put on 44 for West Indies’ first wicket before Campbell was out for 24 and Raymon Reifer fell for 11 to leave the hosts 72 for 2. Braithwaite anchored the innings and allowed West Indies to reach stumps within sight of a first innings lead.

Summerville had sealed a £25 million-plus move to West Ham two weeks prior to Rutter's exit, with Farke now waving goodbye to an attacking duo who notched 27 goals and 24 assists combined in the Championship alone last season.

This is obviously a nightmare situation for Leeds and Farke, who are yet to seal their first win of the new season in all competitions, having lost 3-0 to Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup after drawing 3-3 to Portsmouth in their first league game of the campaign last weekend.

“I stick to what I said. We need cover at full-back, a midfielder, a winger or offensive player and after Georgi a second offensive player," said Farke on the need to make new signings, via his latest press conference.

“They need the full package in all areas. You are not a top player inless you deliver goals and assists. They have to fit personality and mentality and be affordable. Not easy to attract this quality. Easier in the PL. This is what we work on.

“I know our key people are working hard behind the scenes. I know when there are no incoming there is stress, but I talk to them every day and they know what I want. I am carefully optimistic something will happen.”

Leeds could submit new bid for Jonathan Rowe

Attention turns to who could come in to replace the aforementioned, as Farke confirms he wants two attacking players following Rutter's departure. Speaking to GiveMeSport, journalist Ben Jacobs says Norwich City star Jonathan Rowe, who bagged 13 goals and four assists across 38 appearances in all competitions last term, is still well and truly on the radar.

It is believed Leeds could still sign Rowe and lodge a last-minute bid, despite Marseille being favourites right now and the Whites having failed in their attempts thus far.

"Leeds United would still like Jonathan Rowe. He's a priority name," said Jacobs.

"We know it's Marseille that have been the club bidding, but Leeds could enter that race because Marseille haven't agreed a deal. Norwich want in excess of £10million and maybe with add-ons now even closer to £15million, and it might be that a [Georginio] Rutter departure allows Leeds to make a competitive bid, so that could be one to watch.

"Rowe prefers Marseille, again with European football and playing in a big-five league rather than going from Norwich to a Championship club – but Marseille haven't agreed a deal, so Leeds might be able to do something there."

Praised for his "scintillating" form last season, he would be an ideal incoming, but it remains to be seen if Leeds can strike such a deal with little time remaining in the window. In terms of alternatives, Leeds have also been linked with Stoke City's Million Manhoef.

Sri Lanka Cricket has said that the matters that led to Chaminda Vaas’ resignation last month have been “amicably resolved” after a meeting between the two parties. An SLC release said Vaas withdrew his resignation and agreed to continue as fast bowling consultant – though this is not the role to which he had been appointed for just over a month ago, ahead of Sri Lanka’s tour of the West Indies.That role had been the one of fast bowling coach of the Sri Lankan national team, a position vacated by David Saker earlier this year. It was that promotion which had brought about the pay dispute that would eventually lead to Vaas’ resignation. His role now will see him continue as part of SLC’s high-performance coaching set-up, where he will be available to help fast bowlers from national side, but will work more with bowlers coming through the system.”Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to inform you that pursuant to a meeting that was held between Mr. Chaminda Vaas and the Management Team of Sri Lanka Cricket, the matters which led to his resignation were amicably resolved,” an SLC media release said.”Sri Lanka Cricket acknowledges the valuable services rendered by Mr. Vaas to SLC and the significant contribution he has made to the sport as an iconic player and wishes him well.”Within three days after his appointment, Vaas had resigned from the post with immediate effect, and was accused of holding “the game at ransom” by the board. His years of yeoman service have been appreciated and rewarded over the years both in status and in kind.”Vaas, on the other had tweeted, saying: “I made a humble request to SLC and they turned it down. That’s all I can say at the moment. Justice will prevail!”Vaas was a replacement for Saker, who had resigned citing personal reasons. According to Sky Sports' Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea have held talks with Juventus over a swap deal to sign Federico Chiesa in a move that would see Sterling head in the other direction.

Discussions over that deal didn't take long to reach a conclusion, however, with the Italian giants put off by Sterling's hefty £325,000-a-week salary. The Chelsea man earns over double Chiesa, who is reportedly on £153,000-a-week at Juventus.

That said, given that Chiesa has been frozen out of Thiago Motta's Juventus side and shown the door in Italy, the winger is likely to be on the move in the next two weeks. Whether that ends with a summer switch to Chelsea remains to be seen, however.

Chelsea don't need "fantastic" Chiesa

After just splashing the cash to sign Neto, signing Chiesa could be one winger too many at Chelsea, even if it could have been argued that was the case before the Portugal international arrived.

The Juventus winger has struggled in recent years too, with injuries playing a large part in his progress coming to a crashing halt. The last thing that the Blues need in their current state is a player hoping to rediscover his form amid fitness issues.

There was once a time when Chiesa wouldn't be struggling for a move; Europe's top clubs would have been queuing up for his signature after Euro 2020. Alas, those days, for now, are behind him.

Rio Ferdinand was among those full of praise for the Italian after his performance at Euro 2020, helping his country to tournament victory. The Manchester United legend said via The Metro: "He’s a huge player and he’s been linked with a few clubs in England. I’m sure they’re thinking ‘why didn’t we get him?’.

"He’s just a fantastic footballer. The intensity with which he plays with, we saw in the Euros he was the main goal threat for the Italians who went on to win the tournament."

The winger has failed to really settle during his spell at Old Trafford, scoring just 12 goals in 83 appearances for the Red Devils, and iErik ten Hag has taken a hit on the player as a result.

In an alternative reality, Sancho should be comfortably one of the finest players on the planet. Yet things turned sour soon after he joined the club and is now actively seeking an exit from Old Trafford.

Chelsea have signed a bucket load of forwards this summer and it will come as no surprise to hear they have a few who are already worth more than that Sancho fee.

Indeed, in the Premier League, Neto scored twice, and grabbed nine assists while averaging 1.9 key passes and 1.9 successful dribbles per game.

During his three full seasons at United, Sancho registered more than six goal contributions just once (2022/23), hardly the numbers expected following his big-money move from Borussia Dortmund.

Neto may have missed 23 games last season due to injury, but still registered 11 goal contributions in the top flight, proving that if he remained fully fit, this number would have been much higher.

The Portuguese star has made a solid enough start to life in Blue, grabbing an assist against his old side on the weekend in Chelsea’s 6-2 win.

If he carries on this early momentum, Neto can force his way into the starting XI sooner rather than later, potentially becoming one of the club’s key assets before long. It’s a deal, a rare one under Boehly, that they’re set to strike gold with.
